Dr. Anthony Macari is a an Associate professor at the Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Dr. Macari earned his dental degree (DCD) from Saint-Joseph University in Beirut, and a Graduate Diploma in Oral Biology from the Lebanese University. He completed a postgraduate residency in Orthodontics at AUBMC and a Diploma in Orthodontics (DESS) from the Lebanese University, and spent a year as Chief Resident at AUBMC. He holds an MS degree in Human Morphology from AUB’s Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Macari is a diplomat of the European Board of Orthodontists. He is a member of the European Orthodontic Society (EOS), International Association of Dental Research (IADR), a founding member of the Lebanon Association of Dentofacial Research (LADR), and an awarded member in the prestigious Eastern component of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontics. Dr. Macari’s scholarly contributions include more than 20 peer reviewed journal publications and one book chapter. Dr. Macari has been invited to present at different international and national meetings. Dr. Macari is a reviewer for several orthodontic and dental journals.
Lecture title: Update on Different Orthodontic Treatment Modalities in Adult Patients
Lecture abstract: Nowadays, dentofacial esthetics has gained lots of interest among people with the increasing desire to enhance the smile and therefore the general appearance. This trend led to a higher demand for orthodontic treatment among the adult population. The objective of this presentation is to explore the different approaches to treat adult individuals exhibiting complex malocclusions in sagittal, vertical and transverse dimensions. Treatment of adult subjects will be shown, and interdisciplinary approach with restorative dentists, periodontist and orthognathic surgeons will be emphasized.
