Fidele Nabbout

Dr. Nabbout received his dental degree (BDS) from the Lebanese University, Faculty of Dental Medicine in 1997.

Afterwards, he moved to Toulouse in France and joined the three-year full time Postgraduate Orthodontic Program at the University Paul Sabatier, earning his DUO in Orthodontics (2001).

He earned also a certificate in Oral Biology in 2000 and in Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2001 from Paul Sabatier University Toulouse III.

He holds a Master of Science in Biological Anthropology (MS) from the University of Bordeaux, France in 2002.

In addition, he earned a PhD degree in Orthodontics from the Doctoral School of Science and Technology at Paul Sabatier University Toulouse.

He is Assistant Professor at the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Lebanese University. He is former Head of Department and current Master Program Director of the same department. He is also former President of the Lebanese Orthodontic Society. He is an active member in the Lebanese Orthodontic Society (LOS) and member in the World Federation of Orthodontics (WFO) and the Arab Orthodontic Society (AOS).

He has many publications in the field of orthodontics and has given several national and international conferences.

Lecture title: Class II Correction with Microimplant-Supported Molar Distalization

Lecture abstract:

Over the past decade, the use of anchorage screws is becoming a standard practice in orthodontics. The growing interest for microimplants is confirmed by the amount of recent published articles in the literature.

The potential use of microimplants has been demonstrated repeatedly during orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances for different types of movement, especially for molar distalization.

Their use allows to make corrections of Class II malocclusions by avoiding extraction of premolars, decreasing the need for surgery in specific cases, and reducing patient compliance while keeping usual goals of treatment.

During this presentation, clinical cases will illustrate our therapeutic approach in Class II situations.
